DESCRIPTION:WEBINAR | MARCH 14TH 2024 | 4:30 – 6:00 PM EAT \n2023 was notable as it marked a year in which the private equity industry globally showed increasing momentum in adopting and mainstreaming innovations such as Continuation Funds as operationalised through GP-led secondaries transactions. The innovation is gaining widespread adoption among GPs looking to continue the value creation strategy with promising portfolio companies beyond the life of a fixed term fund\, with single asset deals being more popular than multiple asset deals. LPs are equally responding to this innovation by building robust secondaries teams internally to diligence GP-led deals\, as well as investing in GP-led secondaries funds. As we enter 2024 there’s increasing consensus that continuation funds will enter the realm of mainstream practice. There has also been some utilisation of strip sales and tender offer- also types of GP-leds. As a follow up to EAVCA’s September 2023 “White Paper on Continuation Funds- GP led Secondaries”\, this session will draw learnings from GP and legal practitioners from diverse markets who have in recent past closed successful GP-led deals. \nRegistration link: Click here

These awards celebrate outstanding achievements within the impact investing sector in Africa and this year are sponsored by FirstRand. The awards are open to all participants in impact investments across asset classes and impact sectors operating anywhere in Africa. \nIn 2023\, the awards received 75 nominations from 16 countries across the continent through our key partner\nnetworks\, including the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance\, the African Private Capital Association\, ANDE West\nAfrica\, the East Africa Venture Capital Association\, Impact Investing Ghana\, the Impact Investing Institute\, the GSG\,\nImpact Investing South Africa\, the national advisory boards for impacting investing of both Nigeria and Zambia\, the\nSouthern African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association\, and the UNDP. Our panel of judges consisted of 13\nstakeholders with deep impact investing expertise across the African continent\, and Krutham announced 11 winners\nat a virtual awards event in August 2023. Details of the inaugural awards – including case studies on the winners\ncan be found on the Krutham Africa Impact Investment Awards microsite. \nThe impact awards were conceptualised so as to develop a repository of demonstration cases for impact investing in\nAfrica. Africa faces deep developmental issues and\, according to the latest OECD data\, has a sustainable financing\ngap of approximately USD 1.6 trillion until 2030. Impact investing has a critical role to play in crowding in private sector\ninvestors to help fund groundbreaking solutions that achieve both a positive social or environmental impact and\ngenerate a return on investment. These investment strategies contribute to development solutions in a sustainable\nway\, reducing over-reliance on aid while relieving pressure on government finances.
